An unconventional path

  1. Theology and religious life

As a young man, Günter Koytek wanted to become a Catholic priest. After two semesters of theology in Freiburg im Breisgau, he joined the Salesians of Don Bosco. After three years in the order, he asked to be released from his vows.

  2. Psychology, diploma 1983

He went on to study psychology at the University of Landau, focusing on systemic family therapy and organisational psychology, and graduated with a diploma in 1983.

  3. Residential youth care, 1984 to 1987

His first post took him to Bavaria as senior psychologist at a residential home for young people, where he soon became deputy head. During this time he trained in person-centred therapy, NLP, Focusing and clinical hypnosis. On behalf of the Swabian regional government, he also served for several months as interim head of a children’s and youth home in the Allgäu.

  4. AUDI AG, 1987 to 1988

At AUDI AG in Ingolstadt he worked as a management trainer and organisational developer, running seminars for managers across the Volkswagen Group and facilitating internal workshops on collaboration. Alongside this, he trained as an organisational development consultant.

  5. Independent since 1989

Günter Koytek has worked as an independent trainer and advisor since 1989 and founded SEKO Team in 1992. For several semesters he taught leadership and collaboration at the University of Eichstätt and Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences. His work has taken him across Germany, Europe, Asia and the United States.

Body and mind

Alongside his advisory work, he has always been drawn to the fundamental questions of existence. For over three years he studied concentrative and contemplative meditation with a Buddhist teacher, completed basic training in Shiatsu, and spent a year and a half studying the foundations of Buddhism at the Tibetan Centre in Hamburg.

He finds the synthesis of all this in the Korean martial art of Taekwondo. A 6th DAN Grandmaster, he runs two Taekwondo centres in Rehling and Mühlhausen, at over 70. In seminars and advisory work he often draws on examples from Taekwondo, because working life has many parallels with combat.

For him, Taekwondo is not only training for the body but a method of personal development.
